What is "Apple Mask"？

This is an apple liquid film technology using humic acid green materials. It is used to replace the traditional apple bagging technology. The mask is sprayed directly on the fruit surface to quickly form a layer of polymer film, and also it is green and environmentally friendly and within significant effects. It can make apples both delicious and beautiful under the sunshine. ‍

After 3 years of unremitting efforts, the project team has now developed Apple's "face mask" product. This product is mainly divided into agent A and agent B, and agent A and agent B need to be used in combination. The main raw material of the apple "face mask" A is humic acid extracted from coal to make a green apple "face mask", which not only improves the quality of the fruit, but also regulates the soil to prevent pests and diseases. Apple "Mask" B agent acts as a cross-linking antibacterial agent to prevent fruit cracking. After spraying agent A, you need to spray agent B quickly. This product can also be used in conjunction with various foliar fertilizers and micro-fertilizers.

Why "mask" the apple？

China is the world's largest producer and consumer of apple. In 2019, China's annual output of apple reached to 42.42 million tons. Shaanxi’s apple production accounts for 26% of China. Yan’an apples account for about 1/20 of the world, 1/10 of China, and 1/3 of Shaanxi. They have developed into a representative symbol of Shaanxi apples. ‍

During the research and development process, the team overcame the safety, water resistance, disease and insect pest prevention, the film-forming effect of spraying fruit face, and the degradation of the film one by one. Developed a humic acid apple liquid film with antibacterial, water retention, protection and other functions to solve the problems of high bagging cost, low apple quality and high labor intensity in apple production, and promote the high-quality development of the apple industry.

The "big" dream of the "small" mask

 "Although Apple's'mask' is small, it contains a big wish of our college students to innovate and start businesses: to help Shaanxi apple industry improve quality and efficiency, and help consolidate the results of poverty alleviation." said Lin Lei, one of the team leaders.

At present, the apple "face mask" technology of the innovation and entrepreneurship team of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology has been successfully applied to the cultivation of some apple experimental fields, and 2100 acres of promotion demonstration fields have been established in Baota District, Yan'an City. Apples are growing well now, and there will be a bumper harvest in September.
