Jingning is located in the central part of Gansu Province, in the hilly and gully area of the Loess Plateau, with an altitude of 1340-2245 meters. The organic matter content in the soil is 0.92%, the total nitrogen content is 0.072%, the available phosphorus is 8.24PPM, and the available potassium is 170.1PPM. It belongs to a warm temperate semi-humid and semi-arid climate, with four distinct seasons, a mild climate, sufficient sunlight, an average annual temperature of 7.1℃, a frost-free period of 159 days, and an average annual sunshine time of 2,238 hours. There is more precipitation in summer and less in winter and spring. The average annual precipitation is 450.8 mm and the annual evaporation is 1469 mm.

Jingning apples are big and upright, with fine and juicy quality, moderate sweetness and sourness, smooth surface, bright color and delicious taste, and high quality. According to the inspection by the Fruit and Seedling Quality Supervision and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, the fruit hardness, soluble solids and total sugar The six physical and chemical indicators of titratable acid, sugar-to-acid ratio, and Vc all meet or exceed the domestic high-quality apple standards, especially the ascorbic acid (Vc) content is as high as 9.32mg/100g, which is nearly double higher than the average.

In 2019, the orchard area reached 1 million acre, and the orchard area was more than 650,000 acre. The total fruit output reached 880,000 tons, the output value was 3.96 billion RMB, and the per capita net fruit income of farmers was 6,160 RMB.
