Unbagging is a key step in the production of bagged apples. If the unbagging time is right, the apples will be colored quickly, bright in color and good quality! Improper picking time will directly affect the coloring of the apples and reduce the quality of the apples!
1. Determining the unpacking time
The picking time varies greatly according to different apple varieties, bag types, and environments. The time for unpacking apples should not be too early. Unpacking the bags too early will cause the apples to turn green, which is not conducive to the coloring of the apples. If the apple picking time is too late, frost will affect the apple color after picking the apple and before coloring.
For yellow-green varieties that use single-layer bags, they can be picked up when harvesting. The short branches of the red apples covered in paper bags and the red Fuji can last for 100 days, and the long branches of the red apple can turn green in 90 days and can be taken off the bag.
It is generally believed that the development period of the Red Fuji fruit is about 180 days. About 30 days before harvest, torn the bag open to form an umbrella shape and covered on the fruit to prevent direct sunlight from the fruit surface, after 7-10 days, remove the bag to accelerate coloring. 30-35 days before harvest, remove the outer bag firstly, and then the inner bag after 4-5 sunny days.
2.The method of unpacking
When picking a single-layer bag, open the bottom of the bag firstly to ventilate or tear the paper bag into long strips, and then all can be removed after a few days.
When picking the double-layer bag, hold the fruit with your left hand, straighten the "V"-shaped iron wire with your right hand, untie the bag mouth, then pinch the upper mouth of the bag with your left hand, and gently pull down the outer bag with your right hand, keep the inner bag so that it is attached to the fruit. Generally, take off the inner bag after 5-7 sunny days (deducted on cloudy days) after removing the outer bag, preferably at 10-14 o’clok. The occurrence of sunburn is not caused by direct sunlight, but is determined by the surface temperature of the peel and the atmospheric temperature, so as long as there is no large temperature difference, the occurrence of sunburn can be avoided. In case of continuous rainy weather, the time of removing the inner bag should be delayed to avoid the formation of chlorophyll on the surface of the peel after the removal.
