Historical tracing

The history of the College of Horticulture of China Agricultural University can be traced back to the early Republic of China. In 1923, the Agricultural Science Gate of Beijing Normal University was renamed the National Beijing Agricultural University and the Department of Horticulture was established. In June 1999, China Agricultural University was the first to establish a horticultural college in the country. In 2001, a major in gardening was added.

Discipline construction

At present, the College of Horticulture of China Agricultural University consists of the Department of Fruit Trees, Department of Vegetables, Department of Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, Institute of Horticultural Plants, Urban and Rural Landscape Planning and Design Institute, and Horticulture Policy Economic Research Center. The Department of Horticulture, Horticulture, Landscape Plants and Ornamental Horticulture of China Agricultural University School of Horticulture has Ph.D. and Master's degree authorization points, and there are post-doctoral mobile stations; the horticulture discipline became the first batch of doctoral degree authorized by the State Council Degree Committee in 2000. In 2012, the first-level discipline of horticulture was approved as a key first-level discipline in Beijing. The horticulture discipline of China Agricultural University became the first horticulture discipline in China to obtain Sino-Russian joint international certification in 2019. In 2020, it was approved for the first-class undergraduate professional construction of the National "Double Ten Thousand Plan".
